Find Wonder Fast!

Let’s play word association. Your word is December.

December…holidays…presents…shopping…errands…mall…crowds…exhaustion.

Okay, I’ll try. December…winter…snow…sleet…blizzard…delayed flights…bad driving conditions!

Okay, let’s try again. This time pretend you are 7.

December…presents…Santa…reindeer…cookies and milk…magic.

My turn. I’ll pretend I am 8.

December…winter…snow…catching snowflakes on my tongue…snowmen…sledding…snow fort…hot cocoa.

I think you get my point.

Where exactly does the wonder go as we grow up? Is it buried under the snow we are shoveling? Do we lose it in the hustle and bustle of running errands or while we are driving in traffic?

This month, find wonder. Even for a minute, amidst the holiday chaos. Take a break from the to-do list, budgetary angst, the colder weather and play word association as though you were 7 again. Let the words take you back to a time when you can see, feel, hear, smell, taste the excitement of the season.

Your turn. December….

Hi– Thanks for this word– I would like to use this game in my Advisory class– Is that alright, if I credit your website? I think it might be fun just to get a discussion going about perceptions/ perspectives, and also to move in a positive direction– To think how associations can weight or delight.

    Thanks!!!
