High School Students Take a Stand, Get Empoword
Last month, Empoword co-founders and CEO’s Wendy Lutter and Stephanie Ross were invited to participate in area high school St. Paul Academy’s annual Speaker’s Day. Wendy and Stephanie presented back-to-back workshops as part of the school’s program on “Taking A Stand”.
Students were introduced to Empoword’s see it, think it, be it concept, as well as the science and research behind the development of the product line.
Participates discussed using words and mantras to support meaningful change and take action in accomplishing goals and solving problems. After completing Empoword’s Take a Stand Worksheet, students selected Empoword buttons and clings to take with them, so they could use their words to support their efforts to take a stand.
Everyone left with the “assignment” to give the Empoword concept a try and then share feedback. Did the words they selected help them take a stand? How did it go? What happened? Tells us!
Their responses follow:

I choose STRENGTH to help me understand myself better. I was standing up for myself. I put a STRENGTH ’sticker’ in my locker at school and I have been looking at it every day for awhile. Little by little I have been building up the strength in myself, to take a stand for myself. I am almost there and the word in my locker has helped me along the way. Thanks Empoword!
I chose the ‘imagine’ sticker. The first day I got it, I put it in my locker and I look at it every time I open my locker. The ‘imagine’ sticker helps me because it reminds me that using your imagination can really push you to accomplish you goals. It also reminds me to believe in myself (this stops me from putting myself down). This sticker is very inspirational for me. Thanks Empoword!
I chose the “breathe” sticker during the workshop. I put it up on a mirror that is in my study. Whenever I would be doing or homework or studying for a test, I was able to just look up at the sticker and it was a nice reminder and it would help calm me down and focus. Thank you so much for coming to talk to us!
I chose love and giggle during the workshop. It took me a while to figure out where to put them, but I found the perfect spot. I choose to clip them to my golf bag. Everyday when I go play golf after school I’m tired and when I hit a bad shot I ask myself why I even play this sport but when I look at the buttons and they remind me to be happy and laugh, and that I play because I love the game. Thanks for talking to us!
