See It Your Way
The difference between a sign and symbol is opinion. We all agree on what signs look like. Say “stop sign” and everyone thinks of a red sign with eight sides. Symbols, however, mean different things to different people. Think about the Empoword symbols. What do they look like to you?
We have heard a lot of wonderful responses. Here are some of our favorites about gratitude, strength and focus:
“The gratitude symbol looks like a smile and a frown. It reminds me that there are good times and bad. And we need to be grateful for both the good times and the bad times.”
“I was at my daughter’s choir concert applauding the performance. I looked down at my hands and saw the gratitude symbol on its side.”
“The symbol reminds me of a meditative monk walking silently in prayer.”
“The strength symbol reminds me of the Olympic podium.”
“The symbol looks like a rock-solid foundation.”
“Building, going up, stepping higher, getting stronger.”
One little boy looked at his mom’s shirt, and flexed his arms and made muscles.
“It reminds me of a tennis ball going over the net. You have to pay attention.”
“The symbol makes me think of the Karate Kid, when Mr. Miyagi tells the kid to catch a fly with chopsticks.”
“It makes me think: keep my eye on the ball.”
“I think: shutter in a camera lens.”
The possibilities are endless. PLEASE share what you see when you look at your favorite Empoword symbol.

Whenever I see the focus symbol, I think of an eye, trying to focus on its surroundings.
Whenever I see the strength symbol, I think of that mayan structure that has a ton of steps. You have to be strong to climb it.
