Shop Shorty’s
Spotlight on Nancy Sherman of Shorty’s Loft
What inspired you to open your store?
I closed the original store in Long Lake in 2004 to concentrate on the mobile store, the “boutique on wheels”. But after traveling for 10- 1/2 months a year for almost 8 solid years, I spotted the location in St. Louis Park, and well, here I am…with a bit of traveling still, to help out with the bills.
What is your store’s mission?
Shorty’s Loft’s mission is to invite ladies to shop in a comfortable & friendly environment and feel great about themselves when they walk out the door.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I LOVE meeting people and chatting with them. I like to discover new things and everybody has something to say, whether it’s what they are doing for an afternoon, or what their life’s passions may be. I have met some really neat women and made some great friends as well.
What are you doing to stay positive and upbeat in this downturn economy?
This is a TOUGHY!! I know I offer great products and like to remain, this is an overused word, but, “unique”. I, like many others, don’t want to see the same thing on their neighbors, or go to an outing and accidentally be wearing the same thing another woman has on. When I see items get saturated, I like to venture off and find new digs. It’s tough, because there are so many wonderful shops in our area, as well around the country. BUT, there are as many great new finds! I wake up every day thankful (have you used that one yet??) and see that shiny light getting brighter, keeping the faith, and believing in what I do, because ILOVE what I do!
What attracted you to Empoword’s products?
Hmmmm…. I’d have to say the EMPOWORD found me, and because of THEIR enthusiasm and THEIR mission, I couldn’t help but be taken with the products that were being offered. I am all about the drive and focus that is behind independent business owners. Kindness goes a long way, too!
Tell us what your favorite Empoword word is and why?
All of them are my favorites, but my favorite favorite is STRENGTH. Why? Because we ALL have it and need daily reminders (especially now) to use it. It is who we are!
