On Balance, It’s Time to Focus
The thing about being a blogger is it keeps you honest. If you write in a journal and keep it hidden in your desk drawer, no one sees it or reads it but you. If you blog, you are saying “Hello World! Here is what I am thinking, doing, hoping, feeling.” Maybe I am just being neurotic, but in theory I feel more accountable.
Case and point, in my 45 years, I have never checked back to see if I actually accomplished my New Year’s resolutions from the previous year. Easy enough to do when you blog.
December 30 of 2008, I blogged about New Year’s resolutions and my intention to create more balance in my life during 2009.
On July 8, I reported that, “While my resolutions are still very much works-in-progress, I have noticed a change.”
Today, as I reflect on the past year, I asked myself: has that balance window cling in my bathroom made a difference? I know I am bias about the power of these “colorforms” we have started calling Mirror Mantras. But my answer is a resounding YES! I did actually balance work better - okay there were some crazy workaholic days, but overall, I did better than 2008. I did spend more time with my kids. And I did exercise more.
So what do I need and want for 2010? This year I am adding focus to my collection of bathroom mirror mantras. I want to be more disciplined this year. I want to squander away less time on the internet and read more. I want to accomplish very specific goals with my work in a timely, professional manner. And I want to do a better job drinking plenty of water, eating more vegetables and maintaining routine exercise.
What do you want and need in 2010? Tell us.

I need to rid myself of my brain fog. (A)WAKE UP! I did some research and was visited by my Clarity Genie. Turns out I need to listen to the genies in my head, gut and butt. (7 Chakras)
I need to plan better so I feel more confident in taking risks. FOCUS! BRAVE! FAITH!
Well it sounds like I need to add the alphabet to my soupy brain, which I am addressing with a coconut oil cleanse, more sleep, probiotics and a few other things.
